The man said, "Lord, this is a hard place. The wind is too strong for me.

The Lord asked, "Do you so easily forget how I work? Does your faith so easily fail?"

The man said, "It seems so."

The Lord said, "Move closer. You will be able to see me better."

The man moved.

The Lord asked, "What was that you were asking?"

The man said, "I don't seem to remember."

I have spent a professional career influencing men. More specifically, I sought to influence toward the ways of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ and Master of all that is, believing that His way is the path to a man's greatest effectiveness in life and to security in eternity.

That influence is not gained or exercised in the comfort of a church garden. Rather, it comes from rough tracks where men work, gain, and fail in real life, facing real challenges, some seemingly insurmountable. As many have found, there is nothing like meeting a payroll and a bank note, with everyone looking to you for the answers, to get a man's full attention.

The Shalom Effect is a teaching guide to help a man discover his full potential—from a man to men. It is purposely tuned to a male perspective, but it is not gender-exclusive. These principles and promises apply to women and men alike, and all are welcome to draw on this work.

I hope you will experience it as an interactive classroom. Explore every word, image, recording, and link. Each piece has purpose. To the Type A's among us, this is not a contest for speed. Handle it as you would an expensive bottle of wine, savoring it over time. There is much God desires you to know about being a man. I hope you enjoy The Shalom Effect
