December 2023

December 1
I am here. Do you believe me? The answer to that question is easy for you…I know you believe. The next question is more challenging. Do you trust by faith that I will act? The circumstances are challenging. Anxiety and sadness are constant weights prohibiting you from even thinking of trust. Yet, faith and trust are the points to which I urge you. Bring your thought to me…focus upon me…act to move closer to me. You will experience my courage where yours fails; my comfort where sadness has lodged; my confidence where fear has restrained. You will experience faith rekindled. You will realize trust in my ability and hope in my timing and action. You will know that I am and that I have this.
Matthew 14:28-31
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
“Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So, Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

December 2
Lean into me. Bring your honest question. Entrust it to me. Release the doubt. I know you cannot see beyond the moment. It is as I intend it just now, for I desire that you explore the matter of trust to extents not yet experienced. Glance back and remember other times when I met trust beyond your ability and resource with sufficiency. Now is no different. This question is important but no greater challenge to me than others you have asked. But I find it necessary to interrupt comfort with your own capacity to teach you freshly to lean upon me that you be fully prepared for what lies ahead.
Isaiah 40:31
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

December 3
The more time you spend with me intentionally seeking to understand and incorporate my written instructions, the more my character will emerge in you. My Spirit will expand grace, influence, wisdom, and knowledge in you. You will find that your desires become more consistent with my own…justice for those wronged or in need; calmness in your thought and action; hope for my influence among people. Others, not fully understanding me, will be drawn to my character in you. They will ask, and you will guide them to me. For, you are my servant in whom my Spirit resides.
Isaiah 42:1-4
Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged. He will not falter or lose heart until justice prevails throughout the earth. Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction.

December 4
Your eternal existence is unlimited and secure. Therefore, give attention to the temporary nature of this life. Time by your measure is limited and is a precious commodity. Consider how it is best used to greatest effect that you may find satisfaction in the completion of this journey. Having made that commitment, inquire of me. I will show you how my purpose for you is discovered and achieved with depth and breadth beyond your imagination.
Revelation 3:15
I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!
Deuteronomy 4:9
But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

November 2023

November 1
Yes, you have the experience for this task. I formed it in you along with the skills, talent, and insight necessary for this part of my assignment. Even so, were you to attempt this apart from me, it would be unsuccessful. I designed you for a continual interactive relationship with me that extends even to those things that you think you can do by yourself. Bring your set of skills and experience into our communion. Present them as offerings to me to be blessed and applied to my purpose. Then apply them under my instruction in conscious dependence upon me for the outcome. In so doing, you will experience my will and my power.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

November 2
Thank me for the pressure you sense. It sharpens your attention to me and informs your dependence upon me. Be aware of your tendency under pressure to seek solutions on your own. Arrest that thought as it emerges. It is your human nature rising. Confess it. You will find my Spirit strengthening you in the moment of confession as you return to position in my presence. There you will experience wisdom and understanding. There I will cause you to know how best to respond to the point of pressure. There you will know my will and my blessing.
Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 27:8
You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

November 3
Continue to seek me regarding prayer. There is much more that I will show you. You gave close attention to remaining in my presence. I know the weight you were experiencing and the questions you brought to me. Did you not realize my work around you to address those questions? Did you not experience my response? Were you not vividly aware of provision and change at each point of concern? My desire is that you live like that every day. Remain in the position I taught you…humbly surrendered in my presence, intently seeking my will my and way, absorbing my wisdom and understanding, inviting my examination, agreeing with my findings, and responding obediently to my direction. You will experience my promise.
Proverbs 16:20
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the LORD will be joyful.
Psalms 5:11
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.

November 4
You will feel sharp harsh wind pushing against you today. Yet you will step into it with confidence because you know that you are beside me and that I know the way. Not only do I know the direction, I also know the path, each safe step placement, and...this is very important for you to keep in mind...I know the outcome of today's experience, how it plays into my plans for you and others, and the outcome of your journey. The only job you have is to hold tightly to my hand. I have the rest of it.
Psalms 73:23-26
...I still belong to you; you hold my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  I desire you more than anything on earth.  My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart;  he is mine forever.

November 5
These difficulties are designed to distract you from me. They are probes by an enemy that cannot have you but will do all possible to pull you from my presence, to smother your spirit and make you of no effect in the way. The distraction is deepened as you rehearse these unrelenting difficulties, rolling them over in your mind again and again. Your heavy-laden heart cries out, “How? When? With what?”  I hear your cry and respond with a question of my own, ”Do you trust me?” You nodded more from conviction than from confidence. I favor your conviction and will build your confidence. Today, I will show you my grace and open your mind to realities that will encourage you as I lift you from the challenge and heal your vulnerable heart. Stay close and watch as we walk.
2 Kings 6:15-17
When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha.
“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”
Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!”
The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

November 6
Good morning. I rarely interrupt these normal Journey messages, but I do so today to bring a very important matter to your attention. Simply put, it is time for God’s people to pray . . . to ignore the geographic, denominational, racial, socio-political boundaries we have erected between us and come surrendered before God on His terms placing our full trust in the reality of His promise to hear, to forgive, and to restore.

I join with a group of like-minded people in Mobile AL to invite you to the Shalom Mobile project. God commands us in Jeremiah 29:7 to: “Pray for the shalom (peace) of the city where I have placed you. For in its shalom, you will have shalom.”
The word shalom in Hebrew has a much deeper meaning than the English word peace. Shalom means full and complete restoration, restitution, prosperity, wholeness, well-being . . . to be placed in perfect order.

We believe God will move heaven and earth claiming our city for Jesus Christ as we pray for God-honoring government in all its expansive forms. We believe we will see evidence of the Kingdom of God manifested in breaking down enemy strongholds in local, county, state, and national arenas. No . . . this is not about partisan politics. It is about surrendered obedient prayer.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

What might God do if His people prayed? It is time. Please . . . join us.

November 7
I am at work among people…working out my plan, a plan that will reveal the good news of my majesty and truth to all people, and I choose to involve you in it. I did not promise you ease in the process but fulfillment, strength, wisdom, understanding, peace, confidence, and eternal safety. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen. So, think clearly and exercise self-control. Take care to lean into my holiness in everything you do. Knowing my promise, follow me as I taught you. Expect hope extended. Expect faith strengthened. Expect belief deepened. Expect me among you. Expect Me.
1 Peter 1:12-13, 15
…And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen. So, think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.

November 8
The healing you seek will occur in the heart of another. It is as unexpected in his mind as was the ability to walk in the mind of a lame man those years ago. The habit of not walking in that man and the habit of not believing in the one to which I have drawn you are both so deeply entrenched that hope for anything other has faded. Apart from context and specific condition, the matter is the same. Restoration is needed. You are aware of the need. My friend Peter did not hesitate or question. Nor will you. Understand this…Peter did not heal that man. I did. Peter acted under my direction and my power restored the man. So it is with you. Expect me to direct you. Stay close. Lean into me. Act as I direct. Experience my love and mercy. Expect Me.
Acts 3:5-7
The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened.
Colossians 3:12-14
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

November 9
Expect resistance. Our journey ventures into territory under temporary control of an enemy enraged by my influence and has laid traps for any who promote my interests. I know the way here, for it is my land. Though he has done everything possible to remove evidence of my ownership, I will soon reclaim it and restore it. For now, stay near me. I am more powerful than he and you are safe in my presence. Be on your guard, no drifting attention. Stay alert and clearheaded. You are protected by the armor I gave you…faith, love, and confidence that you are mine. As we go, I will show you how the enemy’s strongholds are knocked down and this territory restored.
1 Thessalonians 5:6
So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
1 Thessalonians 5:8
But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.
2 Corinthians 10:4
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.

November 10
The impossibility of the matter is real from any natural perspective. The circumstances are clear and fixed, and each solution you consider seems to be cut off. I taught you of faith and trust. I demonstrated it so many times. You observed the results. Even so, this matter seems beyond what you take as Sunday School responses. You nod as you listen to me, but behind your eyes is doubt. And lurking behind the doubt is growing despair and flickering hope that something will turn up to bring relief. That something is me. My hand is extended to lift you and lead you safely to resolution. But you must decide that my hand is real, and my promise is not child’s play. Do you not think it is time to lay aside your pride, confess your fear, and take my hand?
Matthew 17:19-20
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
Mark 11:23
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

November 11
Do not neglect your position. The pressure of deadlines, projects, and meeting preparations has distracted you. Am I not the creator of your time? Are these assignments not from me? Once again, you have taken on responsibility that is mine to manage. Confess it and turn back to me. I am fully aware of your calendar notes and the tasks awaiting attention. They are all mine as are you. Be still with me a moment. I will order these things and provide the resource of thought, and rest, and strength. I taught you to follow me, not to run out in front. Return to position, and lean into me.
Matthew 11:28-29
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

November 12
The journey is one of constant surrender. It is defined by a very simple concept. I lead. You follow. You prefer to interpret following in general terms that allow you great latitude in how, when, and where it occurs. Yet, I have made clear that I intend following to occur in very specific terms, ultra-close proximity, instant and obedient response to my direction, and complete submission of your abilities and will. I designed you to follow me and equipped you with great ability. Thus, your abilities are fully deployed at greatest effect only when you follow me on my terms according to my designed purpose. So, you get to choose…limp in your own strength or soar in my strength. The choice to fly is not made apart from faith…and surrender.
Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

November 13
I initiate the closeness and the faith about which I speak. Fellowship with me and the benefits that accompany that relationship are part of the gift I offered and that you received. No amount of effort on your part earned my gift or persuaded me to offer it. I do so in love…love of such purity and of such intent to benefit you that it is beyond your full comprehension. The gap between your understanding and my truth must be filled with faith. Many stumble at that point, for the conditioning of your culture requires men to prove their worth by controlling all aspects of their lives. Faith, trust, and dependence…cornerstones of relationship with me…are hard steps. You know that all too well. By my Spirit, I offer complete knowledge of my will. I also offer spiritual wisdom and understanding. With that comes my expectation that the way you live will always honor and please me, and that your life will produce every kind of good effect. All the while, you have grown as you learned to know me better and better.  But there was a moment…the moment I made you aware of my offer…that you had to choose to receive it, to yield your will to mine. It is that moment in the lives of friends for which I now direct you to pray with intent and determination. In so doing, you join me in my will and work.
Colossians 1:9-10
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
John 6:63
The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
Hosea 3:20
I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as the Lord.

November 14
Pray as I taught you. Enter my presence humbly seeking me face to face. Confess my reality, my holiness, and my authority. Ask for the expansion of my authority in you, your family, your community, and your homeland. Ask in repentance and submission for my will to be done in those same arenas. Ask for today’s provision of nourishment, of thought, of strength, of wisdom, of insight, of courage. Ask the I steer you away from temptations and for my protection from the evil that lurks. Confess that I am the source, the only source, of all authority, of all power, and of all glory. Speak it.
Matthew 6:9-13
Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

November 15
At times in our journey, I will elect not to act as think I should. Understand that I have purpose in all that I do, even in my use of time. You can see, interpret, and react only to that which is before you at a moment in time, or to that which has recently passed, or to that you hope will happen in the brief span ahead. But I deal purposely with an eternal pattern in all of creation most of which you will never know. So, my delay in action is not inaction. It does not indicate that I am too busy or lack understanding. I do not love you less. My delay is strategic in your life and in the pieces of my work and purpose that touch you even as they reach to eternal width and depth and height. Even my delay in action is an expression of my great love and care for you and is part of my plan for you.
John 11:4-7
But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next two days. Finally, he said to his disciples, “Let’s go back to Judea.”

November 16
Give attention to this experience with my men. Dwell upon it…you are in it. I equipped them for the assignment, and they were training in the use of the equipment. They were gaining in understanding of the task, but they greatly underestimated the power of the equipment and the source of that power. You see, they thought their reason and ability were sufficient. So it is with you. You are assigned and equipped, but you must grasp the essential fact that the equipment will not work apart from me. Thus, the task assigned to you will be impossible if attempted apart from me. Soak on that fact today.
Luke 9:12-17
Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said, “Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night. There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.”

But Jesus said, “You feed them.”

“But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Or are you expecting us to go and buy enough food for this whole crowd?” For there were about 5,000 men there.

Jesus replied, “Tell them to sit down in groups of about fifty each.”

So the people all sat down. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!

November 17
You were avoiding me. I interrupted the distraction by opening your awareness of it. Now confess your absence from position and receive my forgiveness as I return you to the position for which you are created…humbly lingering in my presence, communion with me face to face, and readily turning from anything that draws you from me. In position, you will find peace. Confidence in my ability will replace anxiety. Effectiveness will replace doubt.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Proverbs 4:25-27
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

November 18
I am enough. Look back and remember from where we have come. Recall the moments along the way when, from your perspective, needs far exceeded resources. Did I not provide? Did I not lead you through each of those experiences? Did you not marvel at my sufficiency? I am your Source. I am your Provision. I am your Sufficiency. I assigned you here, and I am enough. Your tired eyes see a desert and a rock. I see a fountain. You see hard ground. I see a fertile field. Trust me today. Experience my freshening. Prepare to plant righteousness again today. Watch what I do with those seeds.
Isaiah 48:21
They were not thirsty when he led them through the desert. He divided the rock, and water gushed out for them to drink.
Hosea 10:12
I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’

November 19
Take care that you remain in position and move only with me. The danger is misplaced confidence…subtle shifting of confidence in my strength to confidence in your skills. Indeed, your skills are increased, and I note that following me closely has become more comfortable for you. Yet, with that improvement has come the tendency to relax. Your diligence in holding position with me has ticked down, and you are susceptible to distraction. It is an indication that pride is emerging, and it is dangerous. Remember that we travel in a war zone in which the enemy watches for your drift from my presence and power. Stay alert…focused…single minded.  Get in position and stay there. Mission success depends upon it.
James 4:4-8
You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy? But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

November 20
The peace of which I speak is a yield of my grace. It is not an emotion, and it is independent of circumstances. It is a spiritual condition that I grant as part of my hedge of grace…a gift received in my presence. As you turn your intention to me, as your thoughts are fixed upon me, as your trust becomes fully invested in me rather than anything you have or can do, you will experience my perfect peace. As with all parts of my grace, it exceeds anything you can fully understand. Yet, my peace is real and, like a beautiful stain permeating the grains of fine wood, it soaks into the fibers of your heart and mind, conditioning and protecting. Come into my presence by prayer. Remain there. Know my peace.
Philippians 4:7
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3-4
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.

November 21
Your experience with me leads you to invest faith upon faith. You discovered by trial and faith that to embrace this challenge in my presence, patiently trusting, faithfully knowing, humbly dependent is to realize my power to hear, to forgive, to lead, to enable, to equip, to open, to build, to teach, transform others, to encourage you…to restore. Once again you will experience me lifting you up and setting your feet on solid ground with a fresh song to sing and praise in your heart. So, yes…embrace this challenge and watch what I do.
Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.

November 22
Stop. Take a deep breath. Pull your attention from the steepness of the trail and fix it upon me. You are worn because you stepped out in front of me and were moving against the full pressure of the wind. On this part of the trail, it can be quite powerful. Stay by my side and move in my draft. You will find it much easier. Just step where I indicate. You will be fine. In a little while, you will look back and be surprised how far up this mountain we have come. Try this. Thank me for the wind and the steepness…both cause your dependence upon me. Thank me for every circumstance that presses you to me. You will find that gratitude…yes, even for this…brings sharp focus upon our relationship and clarity of mind as it mysteriously enhances your strength and lessens the pressure of the wind.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Colossians 3:16-17
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

November 23   Thanksgiving Day. From 2017.11.23
Allow me to depart from the normal format of these morning posts to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful for each of you who take precious time from your day to read these posts. I hope always to bring a moment of encouragement to you with a simple reminder that God loves you.
Know of my prayer for you on this Thanksgiving day…”Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7

Happy Thanksgiving.

November 24
Grace…it is a simple word yet profoundly complex in its meaning and unimaginably expansive in its application to your life. It is a word that at once encompasses the simplicity of my favor and the infinite reach of all that I am, all that I have, and all that I know. My grace is a mystery that I allow you to experience but that you cannot comprehend. It is my presence. It is my power. It is my majesty. It is as air that you breathe…the rich environment of my Spirit. It is my forgiveness. It is my hedge of protection. It is my love…my eternal and present love for you. Come near me by prayer. Remain there. Experience my grace in this moment before the day unfolds. I have this…yes, even this…by my grace.
1 Corinthians 2:7-10
No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.

November 25
I know the matter with which you contend, and I will lead you to understand the way I will address it. Take care that you remain in my presence like I taught you. There you are enveloped in my grace as my Spirit brings the peace and confidence you need to follow me through difficulty. In humility, confess my ability and your inability. Confess your surrender to my authority, to my way in all things, and to the timing of my choice. Seek me with intent to learn more about my grace. Trust me with expectancy…not to magically erase circumstances but to mysteriously lead you through them.
Psalm 17:5-7
You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong I am determined not to sin in what I say. I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people. My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you. I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways…

November 26
You are essentially following someone other than me. Your consideration of the matter and your hope for its outcome is increasingly dependent upon the actions of another person, and your concern deepens based upon that individual’s action or lack of action. But I taught you that your focus and dependence is to be upon me and that your delight is to be upon following me closely and responsively. Make no judgment based upon what you see or hear. Rather, let your decisions be formed by what my Spirit reveals to you about what you see or hear. I will guide you to truth and to effective action according to my purpose in this matter. Follow me…not someone else.
Isaiah 11:3
He will delight in obeying the Lord.  He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay.
John 16:13-14

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.

November 27
I revealed the question you are to ask of me. I do so with purpose. Dwell upon the question in my presence allowing my Spirit to refine and condition it in your mind. Then surrender it to my keeping with peaceful confidence that just as I raised it, I will resolve it in a manner of my choosing according to my purpose in you and in the issue at hand. Stand ready to respond to my instruction. As the darkness fades in the early morning with the rising of the sun, so my purpose will be exercised as you humble yourself and pray confessing my authority.
John 16:13-14
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.
Romans 8:26-28
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

November 28
A gap has occurred between a need and the resource you count on to meet it. As the gap widened, anxiety rushed in. As the anxiety increased, it distracted you from me. You claim dependence upon me but, having been distracted and drifted from my presence, doubt now clouds the matter as temptation rises to take the matter into your own hands and DO something. It is an old pattern. Stop now! Interrupt the pattern. Turn your attention back to me. Call for my help. I am listening for you and will draw you back to my protection. In the instant of your turn, my Spirit fills, anxiety recedes, doubt evaporates, and your mind frees in the peace of my presence. I will restore your balance, and you will discover that I have already introduced resources sufficient for the matter.
Psalm 17:6-8
I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

November 29
I assigned you to this task. I equipped you for it. And I will see you through it. The road to my intended outcome is long, and my provision is daily. Expect clarity of objective and sufficiency of provision to reach it. Your faith and dedication to the task is guided and refreshed accordingly. Now…enter the day in my peace with my confidence; expect my presence; experience my active leadership.
Isaiah 43:19
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Deuteronomy 5:33
Stay on the path that the LORD your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.
Isaiah 35:8
And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there.

November 30
I created you with intent. I packaged you with character and skill consistent with that intent. I introduced you to purpose and placed my Spirit in you to guide applications for that purpose. I taught you the position from which highest effectiveness in assigned tasks may be achieved. You are to be dependent only upon me; respectfully independent of heart and mind among men; and interdependent in community for the fulfillment of purpose and accomplishment of assignment. Come close and learn freshly of all these things. I will show you how to live.
John 15:4-5
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Psalm 40:3-4
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!

October 2023

October 1

I brought you to this place in our journey with purpose. Yes...it does look like it is an impossible passage forward. That is exactly what I want you understand. Were you alone, it would be quite impossible to go on. But you are not alone, nor have you arrived here in your own power. Do you not remember the impossibilities already succeeded on our way? Your distress is due to the object of your focus. You are looking at the mountain to be scaled, yet I have taught you to look at me...to invest faith in me, in my ability, in my power, in my knowledge, in my strength. In me, nothing is impossible.
Matthew 17:20
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

October 2
I am here. Breathe me and let me fill you. Experience my refreshment. Know my freedom. Receive my strength. I know the circumstances, their reality in terms of earthly space and time. But the power they exercise over you is a trap that you too easily accept as your only option. There is another realm of authority that I offer you…a place to live and thrive far more powerful than the restraining patterns and habits of thought that you embrace. You know it is true because you have experienced it. Now return to what you know is true. The hope you think to be lost is one moment away. Humble yourself before me. Enter my presence and seek me. As I reveal sin, agree with me, and turn from it. Ask me to restore you. I will.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
1 John 5:4-5
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

October 3
Consider my friend, Moses. He too, experienced the pressure of difficulties in carrying out my assignment. I knew the challenges he would face when I appointed him. It is so with you. I also knew the character of Moses and the determination birthed in him as we met face-to-face one day on a mountain. I know your character as well. The matters swirling around you and what seems to be my delay in resolving them frustrate you. You are in good company. Moses responded similarly. Yet at every challenge, he returned to me…to that face-to-face moment. There I instructed him just as I do with you. He prevailed to the end of his assignment. So will you. Park your pride and humble yourself. Enter my presence and dwell there. Seek me face to face. I will reveal sin that must be confessed and removed. I will also give you instruction and restore your courage to follow it. Just as I did with Moses, I will do with you.
Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

October 4
You continue to rehearse the seemingly unmovable elements in this part of our journey, rolling them over in your mind again and again. Your frustration builds and your heart cries out, “How?” That cry is more to yourself than it is to me…kicking against the circumstances. I know the issues and your despair and anger. You are not in danger. Your needs are met. But you see yourself as stuck and do not like it. The truth is, you are more involved in you and what you want than in me and my purpose. I have a question for you. Do you trust me? Your quick answer is “yes” because you know it should be. In truth, you do not trust me because you fear I will not give you what you want. My purpose for you at this point involves you being stuck, for that is where I begin to gain your attention. Here is the truth. I know you. I love you. I have a fulfilling plan for you, and I am revealing it to you. What I require is surrender of your will…surrender of your intent in favor of mine. So…do you trust me?
Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me and lead me in the everlasting way.
1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices
or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

October 5
Remain in my presence. Seek me face to face. That communion is true prayer. From it comes the wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, and knowledge that I intend for you. Bring your petitions and concerns to our communion. Leave them with me. I already have design for them according to my purpose in you. I am teaching you to release these things by faith into my care. You have an eternal promise that will not fail. You also have my Spirit…myself…residing in you making known each next step, protecting you, strengthening you, guiding you. So, yes…I do have this and you. Remain in my presence.

October 6
I actively look for one whose heart is fully committed to me…one who loves me with entirety of being. In that one will I invest the treasures of my kingdom. “I wish to be so,” you say. “But I know I am lacking such fullness.” Be encouraged. For, your honest desire to honor me is what I seek. I will deal with what lacks by my grace. Follow me closely, and I will teach you of my investment and of my grace.
Matthew 22:37-38
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
2 Chronicles 16:9
The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him…
Psalms 139:1
O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

October 7
You have known about what I teach. Now you are learning the reality of remaining in my presence as a norm in your life. Your habit of coming and going is slowly yielding to your lingering near me, and you can sense the difference in peaceful clarity of thought and confidence of direction. My Spirit is linked with yours. It is not something to be easily described, for it is a spiritual transaction...it is me in you...the living Word in you. It is what I mean when I call you to follow me. Stay, and you will learn so much more.

October 8
Recognition and confession of the truth of my way and my promise, indeed of who I am is at the heart of our relationship. That clarity is fully experienced only by my Spirit in you. But I will not treat yo
u as a puppet. I created you with a will and a mind. Though I am in you and long to show you ways of living that you cannot imagine, I will hold pending your decision to surrender your will and mind to me. Pride limits you. Surrender frees you. Confess the sin of your stubborn restraint. My forgiveness and freedom await. I am not your helper. I am your Lord and King.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

October 9
Seek me diligently. I am your Source. I establish you each day. I guard my own. I guide you and instruct you. I provide all that you need. I am always present. I am before you. I am around you. I am in you. I am your past, your present, and your future. If I lead you into challenges, it is to prove my authority and build your faith and understanding. Even in the moments of your doubt, did I not make a way? Remember what the cultivator of the tea plant taught you. He intentionally stresses the plant in the heat and sun, with crowding, and with pruning because he knows that the plant will rise to the challenge with accelerated growth of new leaves. He can harvest far more leaves at higher quality from the stressed plant than from the plant that languishes in the ease of shade. Stop seeking ease. Seek me.
Psalm 16:5-8
LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

October 11
Be still with me for a while. There are things I must show you that are quietly absorbed only in communion with me face to face, things that touch your soul. There is nothing to fear, for I desire to free you from old patterns that have seemed inescapable. In the stillness, I will open your mind to my fullness. There will be no doubt who I am and of my unlimited power and authority to forgive, to cleanse, to heal, and to restore. I will draw your awareness to the patterns, to the emotions they produce, and to the shame that so readily rises. I will urge you to agree that these things are sin strongholds, to ask for my forgiveness, and to resolve to turn from them. I know you do not think the repentance will last, but my Spirit in you will empower it. You will know freedom. Now…be still and know that I am God and that your victory comes from me.
Psalms 46:10
Be still and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.
Psalm 62:1-2
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.

October 12
I delight to the sound of your voice when you sing the content of your heart to me. It tells me that you understand the fullness and importance of my love for you. Keep singing...you enter into my presence as I move toward the sound.
Psalms 92:1-4
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done.

October 13
I saw the tear along the way. No one could tell. You hid it well. But I know. This part of the trail is long and steep and hard. It draws the tears of those who attempt it without me. But I assigned it to you not because of your ability and strength but because of our relationship and your dependence upon me. I have other assignments for you, but this one is necessary to condition you, deepening your reliance upon me. We should get moving again. You will need to be closer so I can support your weight. It will help if you stop straining to see the top. Just follow my lead and focus on each next step as we talk. You will be surprised how much easier it is.
Psalms 23:3-4
He renews my strength.  He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.  Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.  Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

October 14
I am right here, and I am fully aware of the difficult circumstances. I know each of the decision points you rehearse continually. I know the challenge and am protecting you. Long ago, you learned from those you admire that you and only you are responsible for your destiny. I was given only token acknowledgement. Now you face something far bigger than your ability and you look to me for remedy, not in faith but in desperation. If I alter the situation simply to give you ease, you will claim my work as part of your destiny and nothing in you will change. But I love you and have a much greater purpose for you, one that requires your complete dependence upon me…total surrender to me and my way. The current difficulty has forced your attention to me. It will not overcome you, but the challenge will remain as I introduce you to the truth of who I am. Your help comes only from me. Acknowledge that fact and keep your attention upon me. I will guide you into faith, trust, and surrender…then to victory.
Psalm 121:2-3, 5-8
My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

October 15
You observe a broken culture. Ambition, aggressive maneuvering for power and prestige, independence, presumed authority over others…these are the ways your culture teaches will satisfy longing for purpose and significance. But I have shown you that greatness and fulfillment are found in the qualities of a child before me. I honor meekness, humility, trust, honesty, dependence, and submission. For, it is that character that I will shape, empower, favor, bless, and promote among people. Do not fear insignificance or lack of accomplishment. I am the way to significance and worth. I am all you need. Follow me.
Matthew 18:1-4
About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

October 16
You attempted the task with the assumption that your experience would pull you through. Though I guarded the responsibility from your lapse and met the need, you are fully aware that you did not prepare with me appropriately. I allowed you to stand on your own, and you are keenly aware of the aloneness and lack of confidence you experienced. I require a contrite and humble spirit in all matters. Such is an expectation of all my followers, but it is my specific expectation of you in the arena to which I assigned you. Your only job is to remain close to me, surrendered to my purpose. There, I will prepare and empower you for each task. And, from there, I will direct each step in the task. Therein is found the satisfaction that was recently absent.
Isaiah 57:15
The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”
Psalms 25:9-10
He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

October 17
Ask me. I know your heart. Ask me, humbly trusting. I have already designed the matter. Ask me. For as you remain in my presence asking, you discover my intent for you as well as for the matter you bring. Asking is a step of obedience in faith that properly aligns our relationship. Ask, and keep on asking…seek me face to face.
Exodus 33:11
Inside the Tent of Meeting, the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp…

October 18
I see you are wondering if I really understand the pressures and difficulties you face on this path. Did you note that thought occurred in you just after you released my hand and stepped away from me? Have you learned so little about me in our time together? I understand the pressures quite well for, not only did I create this path in perfection, I also walked it alone after it had been damaged by misuse. I faced all the dangers and completed the journey long before I brought you here. Here is my hand. Get back in position. I am your safety.
Psalms 139:1-5
O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.  You know when I sit down or stand up.  You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.  You see me when I travel, and when I rest at home.  You know everything I do.  You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.  You go before me and follow me.  You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Hebrews 4:15
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.

October 19
Remember how I taught you to pray…that my unlimited authority be revealed and that my will be conducted? You saw that petition as distant and worldwide, difficult to apply to your personal experience. Yet the personal application to your life is very much part of my intent. You may assume that I taught it just for you. Ask me now to reveal the fulness of my loving authority in your being. Ask me to conduct my will in you and through you. It is a powerful and wonderful experience. You have been chained to fear too long. Allow me to free you. All you need do is ask.
Matthew 6:10
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Psalms 143:10-11
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. For the glory of your name, O LORD, preserve my life. Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress.
Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

October 20
Look up; I am here. Be assured that I am with you and leading you. You do not need to be afraid of the fog or the unknown beyond the turn. Such are only distractions that remind you to look for me. When you look up, you will find me. I am your strength and your support. Your habit of thought is to doubt and hesitate, but I wish to transform your thought, to teach you of my will, to reintroduce you to confidence and peace, to guide your experience into that which is good and pleasing and perfect. Yes, look up from the fog and the fear. Take my hand. Know my strength.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

October 21
I am about to do a special thing among my people. You must prepare yourself as I directed. Humble yourself before me. Remain
in my presence. Seek me face-to-face. Turn from sin and present yourself in need of purification. Seek my preparation for action. I will clean your heart of all debris and renew your spirit. Then your new nature will emerge ready for my assignment. Put on the equipment issued to you and stand ready to act exactly as I direct.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
Psalms 51:7, 10
Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Ephesians 4:24
Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Ephesians 6:13
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
Micah 6:8
…the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

October 22
You could see it in the deadness of his eyes. He is lost and afraid to trust. But he is not lost to me. Pray for the moment when he realizes that I found him and that I love him. That prayer is your assignment. Engage it now. Do not relinquish it until I release you from it.
Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

October 23
The work is only now just beginning. It will last until I see you face to face. Trust me with it. Remain in position. Pray continually. Take no rest from it. See if you can wear me out with your prayer for the city. See what I will do among my people.
Isaiah 62:6-7
O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the LORD. Give the LORD no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.

October 24
I am at work. Dwell upon the words of this old song…pray it, interceding with me on behalf of your friend. Pray and watch, trusting me. You will be aware of some of my action but much of it you will not know and must continue your watch believing and faithfully praying confidently in the understanding of all that I am, all that I promise, and all that you have seen.
Psalm 71:1-3,7-8
O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me and set me free. Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
My life is an example to many because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.

October 25
I have drawn you to approach old, closed gates in your city and in lives…old strongholds built by generations of sin, rusted shut, sealed, immovable, presumed impenetrable. But I will soon enter past those gates and extend my light and authority over all contained beyond them. Step forward at my command. I have prepared an open door that no one will shut. I will guide you to it and through it. You move past that which is sealed, not in your own strength or intellect, but in My Name and by my Spirit. By my Spirit the old gates are blown open, their power destroyed, and light shed where darkness once prevailed.
Psalm 24:7-10
Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD of Heaven’s Armies—he is the King of glory.
Revelation 3:8
I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

October 26
Though it presents as a matter of economics or business practices or socio-political exigency, this is a spiritual battle and must be engaged with spiritual weapons. The enemy’s stronghold is a tangled nest of long-held patterns of thought firmly entrenched and cemented by evil intent and camouflaged as common belief and practice. You will not be able to move it by your own strength or strategy. Get in position as I taught you. Take up the spiritual weapons of purity, understanding, patience, kindness, sincere love, truth, all empowered by my Spirit and my Word alive in you. I will instruct you in their effective use to the tearing down of strongholds.
Zechariah 4:6
Then he said to me, “This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
2 Corinthians 6:6-7
We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love. We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.
2 Timothy 2:9b
But the word of God cannot be chained.

October 27
You are finding that as you learn about prayer, there is much more to discover. I have opened your understanding to prayer in part, but it will remain a mystery about which you must continue to seek me. I have led you to realize the essential nature of this gift. With that realization is responsibility and the weight of needs that surround you. You must not neglect prayer, for it is the way into my presence. There you must linger and tender to me the matters of lives to which I have drawn you. That is the responsibility I have given you…not to fix but to pray. Trust me with my promise…I will hear and forgive and restore according to my purpose.
2 Peter 1:4
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

October 28
You were thinking of the freshness of my power and presence, and you ask why it cannot be constant in your life. Constancy is a core element in following me and is a product of single mindedness. You have experienced the fullness of my favor and work, and I know your desire for it to continue. But I also know the distractions that so easily pull your attention from me. In those times of distraction, you establish a double loyalty. I have made it clear that one with divided loyalty should not expect to receive anything from me. Fix your attention upon me. It is a decision that you must make continually, but it is one that I will reinforce and guard. As single mindedness is established, so will be found the freshness and constancy of my power and presence.
James 1:6-8
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

October 29
You are concerned that the matter may not evolve as you intend it. You are correct. It will, however, evolve as I intend it. Relax your grip and turn your attention back to me. I am actively guiding you. Do you think that I might make a mistake or that I missed something? Your pride is showing, and you are out of position. Admit it. Turn from the attitude and return to your position in my presence. There is little time and much at stake. Follow me as I taught you.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”

October 30
My hand is never beyond your reach, nor is my voice beyond your ability to hear and understand. Closeness…as in the experience of a father walking with a son…is at the heart of our journey together. It is the core element in following me as I intend. So many have tried to make this difficult. They have rejected the simplicity of a relationship with me in favor of a rule-bound existence in which the rules always stand between the person and me. Accordingly, their relationship is with the rules, not with me. Yet, I have shown you that following is done in the nearness of my presence, in the freedom and light of my Spirit, yielded to my guidance, responsive to my step, attendant to my voice, and in the warmth of a genuine loving relationship. Follow me…just as I have shown you.
Deuteronomy 30:11-14
This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you to understand, and it is not beyond your reach. It is not kept in heaven, so distant that you must ask, ‘Who will go up to heaven and bring it down so we can hear it and obey?’ It is not kept beyond the sea, so far away that you must ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to bring it to us so we can hear it and obey?’ No, the message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it.

October 31
You ponder the mystery of prayer. Consider my instruction to abide with me and my words to abide in you as essential to prayer. I intend “abide” to be understood as to remain, to continue, to stay in a stable and constant existence as the essential description of your relationship with me…the position I taught you. Compare that expectation to your actual practice of relationship. It is transient…in and out and in again, out again. The least pressure can distract you, and you are out again wondering where I am and why I do not answer your petition. Your waywardness is sin to be confessed and a debilitating habit from which you must turn. In the moment of turn, you will find my forgiveness and restoration. There you will ask, and I will respond.
John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

September 2023

September 1
Guard the vulnerable area I have revealed. Focus upon position…humbly linger in my presence, intentionally engaged with me, confess your vulnerability, and agree as I instruct correction. To dwell upon that issue apart from me is to invite distraction and temptation by an enemy who constantly probes to exploit every crack that may be found. I am your protection. My Spirit in you has moved to seal and guard that area even as we commune in these moments. Now, regarding the subject of your concern, ask my blessing upon it and move on. We have work to do today.
Ephesians 6:10-13
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

September 2
It is a matter of title and by whom title is held. You must understand that, contrary to popular belief, I do not relinquish title of that which I have created to other of my creations. I always retain ownership, yet I allow qualified latitude to those I entrust as caretakers of certain pieces of my property and watch to see how that latitude is exercised in the use of my things. I have entrusted you with the care and use of precious things...tools in your hands for the conduct of my assignment. I have also made clear that best use practice and effectiveness requires your continual communication with me. Stay near to me. Much is at stake.
1 Chronicles 29:12-15
Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.
Luke 12:48
...When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

September 3
Giving is not a matter of legalistically calculating a precise percentage of the money I have provided to you and giving it to a religious organization. It is recognition of my ownership of all resources at your disposal and your willingness to use them at my direction in an arena of my work according to my purpose in you and in that place. Lack of such willingness is to cheat me of that which is due and has consequences accordingly. Obedience in the use of my resources also has consequences…immeasurable blessing. Follow me in my assigned use of my resources in your hands.
Malachi 3:8-10
Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test.

September 4

You heard the story, and you saw the pain in his eyes. He does not need your advice. He needs your care…to know that you realize his pain, that you understand the weight of it. He does not want your solution. He hopes for your compassion. I expect your prayer and intercession with me on his behalf. Because you heard and saw and know, you are responsible to pray. Linger in my presence on behalf of your friend.

John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

Galatians 6:2
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

September 5
I entrust you as a steward of my grace where you step each day. As you follow, as you remain in my presence, as you petition me for needs, I have opened your eyes to ever more needs around you. Even in these moments of quiet conversation, your mind is stretching to comprehend the breadth and depth of things for which I have directed you to pray. In that increased awareness, as a steward of my grace, your need for me and your dependence upon my provision is sharpening considerably. I am your God. I am teaching you to do my will. This is what following me is like, and I am leading you step by step.
Psalms 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

September 6
I have revealed things to you that are necessary for the assignment. There is more to come.  Humble yourself before me, yield to my instructions, and enact them without reserve. Clarity of communication between us is dependent upon your close proximity to me. Prayer is the conduit to that closeness...the way into my presence. But you have been distracted from prayer by your continuing rehearsal of the very events through which you wish me to lead you. Surrender those events to me and seek my presence in yielded prayer. I will show you my way."
Psalms 119:34-38
Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.  Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.  Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!  Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through your word.  Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you.

September 7
Think back to the first…to the moment you believed. Revisit the foundation of our journey. It was the moment that you spoke with assurance, first in your mind not fully understanding it as communication to me, then later aloud to others. It was the moment you realized that you believe…that you knew then and now that I am God, Creator, Master, Commander and that I rose from death as evidence of my sacrifice and power over death and sin. You are saved from sin and guaranteed eternal life. Our journey since has ranged far and will continue. But that moment is the touch point that is never lost.
Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

September 8
You learned along the way that as you remain close to me, values reorder in importance. Some opinions, once tightly held, I led you to discard. That which once defined both your private self and your public identity is changing. It is my refining process at work, and more is required. It is important that persons looking for you find me, and the internal and external shaping to produce that result must continue. Most of the time, it will occur naturally as you continue to move with me. At times, however, I find it necessary to pull your grip from something no longer needed. Do not fear or resist. You will know my urging and receive my grace through it all.
Philippians 3:7-8
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.
Psalm 86:11-13
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death.

September 9
It is a simple thing I want you to put into practice, and it will expand your understanding of my way and extend your influence. When you have opportunity to help someone or to encourage, do not hesitate. Even if you are busy, do not defer. Do it the moment it comes to your mind. Since I planted the thought in you, you may rightly assume that I have a purpose in doing so. You do not need to know my purpose. That is my business, not yours. Your business is to follow and act as I direct you.
Mark 12:29-31
Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Matthew 5:42
Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Matthew 25:44-45
Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
Proverbs 11:25
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

September 10
The passions and desires of your sinful nature were nailed with me onto that cross. Their power died there. Among them was your pride and its corollary, control. That leaves you with the option every moment of every day to live under the power of my resurrection in direct relationship with me through my Spirit. Most days you do...some, not. Today, the option is freshly renewed by my love for you. Follow my leading in every part of your life. Choose to reject that tendency in you that caters to self-interest. I am Creator, Master, and Commander of all that is or every will be, and I am quite capable of leading you well. My Spirit is urging you toward me. What will be your decision?
Galatians 5:24-26
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

September 11
A point of personal privilege . . .
On this day Twenty-two years ago, our morning was interrupted with the unimaginable. The gates of American sanctity were breached as we watched in real time. The stunning horror and reality of that attack grabbed our collective attention as nothing since. Our way of living changed, and for a brief time we even turned to God.
Twenty-two years is not a long time, but it is long enough to forget to pray and why it was so necessary. So, I raise the date and invite those of you who are old enough . . . remember why you prayed that day. And to those of you who are too young to remember . . . ask why.
A conversation with God . . .

You have that long stare again . . . trying to untangle issues and discern the future. We have talked about it so many times. The future is my responsibility. The continually renewed decision to follow me is yours. The matter becomes more difficult when you look away straining to see that which you cannot find without me. Your attention is pulled from me, and our communication is interrupted. Your ability to respond to me effectively is critically compromised, and stumbling is inevitable. You must trust me. I have this...always have. Turn from the distraction and get back into your position. I will show you the way.
Matthew 6:30
And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
Revelation 9:20
But the people . . . still refused to repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.

September 12
It feels to you like things are piling up, gaps widening, your self-expectation drives ever harder, tension rises. It is a cycle I have seen in you so many times. Even as you speak of trusting me, there is subtle movement in you to draw responsibility back into your control. That is the point of tension you experience. The gap is not need versus resource. It is you out of position thrashing every harder to make things happen when all you need do is ask me. I remind you again of what you already know and have experienced so many times…confess your pride, linger in my presence, ask me. I will take care of the rest…form your thought, direct your action, provide necessary resources. Get in position. Abide and watch.
John 15:7-9
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.

September 13
Your mind is upon the meeting and its importance. I am with you and in you and guiding you. Linger with my words of truth. Allow my promise to abide in you...to fill you.
John 14:16
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
John 15:26
But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
John 16:8
And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
John 16:13
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

September 14
Consider the frequency of praise in our journey. It is a good gauge of closeness, for the nearer you come to me, the more clearly will you comprehend my majesty and the more naturally will flow praise from the depths of your being. Correspondingly, the lack of praise emerging from you is an indication that your proximity to me has become distant and our communication strained. Draw near to me and experience the freedom of thought and lightness of spirit that has eluded you these many days.
Psalms 9:1-2
I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.  I will be filled with joy because of you.  I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
Matthew 11:29-30
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

September 15
You ask who will be involved in the work. It is the right question, but bring your attention back to position as you ask it. You must remain in my presence with attention to confession and repentance as you seek me regarding the people. I have already chosen them. Your job is to remain in me and pray for them. I will bring each forward in turn according to my purpose in each of their lives. Trust me. I have this.
Psalm 90:17
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

September 16
Do you yet understand the necessity of prayer to effective living? Prayer is the conduit into my presence, the way by which you may linger with me, to commune with me, to experience my reality as we connect spirit to Spirit, to discover all I intend for you. That is the purpose of this magnificent gift, to connect with me in a living vibrant relationship. You learned of prayer as a last resort to gain ease or to get something you want. In so doing, you cheapen this great gift of communion to a type of vending machine, and you wonder why I am silent. My promises of provision are real, but they are promises based upon relationship. Learn what I mean about abiding in me. You need only ask. I will show you.
John 15:5
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Colossians 4:2
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!
Luke 6:12
In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.

September 17
It is my grace that astonishes you…the unmerited extension of my favor and power in a manner for which I led you to ask, for which you hoped, but which you did not really expect. Here is my point of instruction to you today. As you dwell in my presence yielded to my way, I will open your understanding to things I wish to accomplish in you and through you. You will not see how such things can come to fruition, for they will seem impossible. Yet, in my presence, you will grow in belief that they will occur and will petition me for greater insight and instruction for action. Your faith will expand and strengthen, and your trust in me will deepen. Then, according to my purpose and in my time, I will act…perhaps through you; perhaps independent of you. A moment’s astonishment will yield to your understanding of what has occurred and tap into a deep spiritual well of trust, gratitude, and praise. Even as those around you are amazed, your faith will be affirmed as that which once was deemed impossible becomes reality…an extension of my grace for which I led you to ask.
Mark 2:3, 11-12
Four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat.
“Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”

September 18
Consider the danger of distraction. You are familiar with the many enticements on this road. They are not part of my way, and some, should they gain purchase, could destroy you. Though they are dangerous, I have chosen to allow their presence for now to teach you. They will vie for your attention and pull at your pride...some so strongly that you will think them irresistible. Remember this. These enticements have no power if you keep your eyes on me. Guard from anything, good or bad, that distracts your attention from me. Should you become distracted and entangled with an enticement, you will not be able to disentangle yourself. I am your only way out. Call to me. Look to me. Reach for me. I will respond, and the tentacles will fall away. I am your commander, your guide, your teacher, your provider, and your protector. Keep your eyes on me.
1 Corinthians 10:13
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

September 19
You know I am here, refreshing you, urging you, enabling you to my way, guiding your decisions, revealing mine. Fix your attention upon me. Absorb my freshness and grace. Dwell upon me as my Spirit fills, heals, forgives, strengthens, and leads. I will appoint each moment and how you are to use it. Trust my love.
Psalm 23:2-3
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.

September 20
You asked about a hedge of protection that I place around my faithful people. It is spiritual in nature and realized by those who humbly seek me and dwell in my presence. In belief by faith in the power of my Spirit, they live within that hedge. Read what I wrote about my hedge of protection and its benefit.
Psalm 91
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.
9-10 If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.

September 21
Our journey has led to a task and many unknowns. The questions lie before you. Your experience with me leads you to know that the answers are also there to be discovered. My Spirit lives within you and is already providing the wisdom, understanding, and knowledge needed. Lean upon me as I taught, fully dependent. Ask the questions of me. I will cause you to know where to step and what to do. Trust me. I led you here, and I will show you the way.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Zechariah 4:6
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
Isaiah 41:13
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

September 22
The wisdom you seek is founded in proper understanding of who I am. Take care that there be no casualness in your dealings with me. I am Creator, Owner, Master, Commander of all that is or ever will be. That includes you and all of which you are caretaker. My being, my name, my power, and my work are holy. The high degree of honor, awe, and respect that I require Is properly defined in the phrase, 'fear of the Lord' and must never be explained away or handled lightly. At the same time, I love you everlastingly and abundantly. Only in my majesty and grace can these two seemingly separate concepts be coupled. And, only in my presence can you experience them. So, in your quest for wisdom, come into my presence...remain there...dwell upon my majesty and grace. Wisdom will be yours.
Psalms 111:10
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!
Psalms 112:1
Praise the Lord!  How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.

September 23
Seek me regarding prayer in the Sprit. There is much more for you to learn. It is a powerful element in our relationship as it is the conduit into my presence, the link between your spirit and my Holy Spirit. Prayer is so much more than an intellectual exercise of reading or thinking words or rehearsing a list of needs or desires. Think of the potential of intentionally lingering in my presence, listening, absorbing that which I build into you…wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There, in those moments, I shape your will and establish your thought and direct your actions, all according to my purpose conducted by my Spirit. The petitions…needs, desires, hopes…that are so often the incentive for your coming to me are conformed to my will, and peace and confidence rise so that you know even those critical earthly matters will work together for good.
Ephesians 6:18
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Jude 1:20
But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit…

September 24
Ask for my strength. I will provide it. Ask for the clarity required for this task. I will refine it. Ask for understanding of elements that remain unknown. I will reveal it. Ask of faith to believe what has not been and courage to act with confidence in its reality. I will build it. Ask for hope so bright, so intense, as to drive out any shadow of doubt. I will endow it. Ask for knowledge of what and how and when pieces are to be assembled. I will direct it. Ask for the people. I will assemble them. Ask for my protection. I will establish it. Ask for what most say is impossible. I will deliver it.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Luke 1:37-38
“For nothing is impossible with God.”
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

September 25
Consider all that is means to have your mind fixed upon me. I call it abiding in me and I in you. It is where you learn to delight in me and where you experience perfect peace. I created you with the ability to remain in my presence as you act to fulfill the various responsibilities in your life. You have experienced the benefits of abiding, yet you are easily distracted from it. Our enemy actively fosters that distraction, and your lack of discipline plays into it. Ask me…now. I will supply the focus you need. Ask me, and freshly experience my restoration as this day begins.
Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

September 26
Allow My Spirit to search your heart and reveal your innermost motivation. I look for mature faith and intent to please me in obedience to my commands driven by a prime and honest desire to be in my presence…recognizing and appreciating the benefits of my blessing but motivated, not by the blessing, but by our relationship. Should I find a shadow on these things, I will reveal it in a way that you cannot ignore and lovingly lead you to agree with me and turn from it, that the shadow is removed, our relationship restored, and your effectiveness magnified. Shall I begin?
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Deuteronomy 28:1-7
If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the LORD your God:
Your towns and your fields will be blessed.
Your children and your crops will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed.
Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed.
Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.
The LORD will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!

September 27
I raise the question of obedient response, not because of your reluctance in anything of which you are aware, but in preparation for that of which you are not yet aware. It is an answer I require before the direction is given. Thus, it is a question of faith and belief and commitment with abandonment of control. Therein lies my purposeful challenge. Invite my Spirit to shape your will, to open its rigid grip, to conform it to my intent that you delight in the opportunity to obey in advance of my direction.
1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Exodus 24:7
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”

There is more you must learn about a spiritual wall of protection that I establish around those who attend to my instruction. It is part of my work of restoration in response to your intentional obedience…humbling yourself in surrender to me, remaining in my presence, seeking to know me, and acknowledging and repenting of sin. You have speculated as to the materials of such a wall or how it may be gained. Understand this…it is real but not tangible; it is spiritual in nature and content; it exists only at my command according to my purpose, and its strength and effectiveness is by my power, not yours. As with other areas of my blessing, my protective wall is not earned or attained by human performance. It is a benefit of grace that I provide to one who obediently seeks me on my stated terms.
2 Chronicles 7:14-15
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.
Job 1:10
You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does…

Because you have set yourself to my way, there will be no end to the struggle with evil. My way will always lead you against the current of human nature and culture. Even so, I am greater than that current. My Spirit resides in you. My power surrounds you. My courage fills you. My wisdom guides you. My protection assures you. My strength refreshes you. Live in my presence…abide in me. Lean into me and take each next step. I will show you the footholds. The current of evil will not sweep you away. Indeed, you will see it part before you.
Proverbs 2:1-12
My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.
Isaiah 43:2
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

Always remember that we are on a journey along a trail that I have chosen and upon which I have placed you with purpose. It has a past. It has a present. And, most importantly, it has a future. I used the past to prepare you for what you are experiencing now, and I am using the current events, relationships, responsibilities, delights, and challenges to equip you for that which lies ahead. My way of making you right with me and of gaining dependence upon me is to place you in present situations that are beyond your control, that purposely stress you...situations that require you to invest in me greater levels of trust and faith than have been required so far. So it is that your faith has grown and will be applied as we move forward. Let go of the past; look up from the present and thank me for that future into which I am leading you.
Philippians 3:12-14
I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
