Before you move on, take a few minutes and recall the instructor's four lessons. Write them on a note card and keep it where you can see it.

  • Is there a difference between what you just heard and the way you have understood your relationship with God up to now? How so?

  • How do you relate the instructors four lessons to the instructions of Jesus in John 15: 4-8?

  • Ask God to teach you how those four lessons apply to your understanding of Him.

Now. . .listen to parts 2 and 3. Listen straight through and take notes of major points. It will take you about half an hour.

Look at the image of a boy on his dad's shoulders, and answer the following questions.

1. What do you think the image has to do with the follower's position?

2. What does it have to do with what Jesus said about remaining in his presence?

3. How do you describe the relationship of a follower to a leader?

4. How do you describe your relationship with Jesus?

As a coach presses upon his players, "You must play your position to win this game!" so Jesus presses upon those who wish to be his followers, "You must remain in me and I in you if you are to understand me and experience my plan for your life."
